Dear readers,
When we are young, we nurture an innocent hope of finding that perfect person.
Someone Shall Come Along
I’m open to dating And I’m tired of waiting Someone shall come along Oh, yes, I am single Oh, yes, I will mingle Someone shall come along Life is such a sweety And I am so pretty Need someone to belong But you shall be witty Or it’ll be a pity Someone shall come along I am lovely and pink I’m now ready to link So please don’t take too long I am ready to sink Though I can never wink Someone shall come along -Niraj Pancholi
A note on the poem
In this poem, I wanted to capture a young girl’s hope that soon someone special would come, and her life would be filled with romance.
I imagined her to be a small town girl, waltzing around in her bedroom on a Saturday morning.
Sunlight coming through her window. Soft white curtains dancing with the wind.
She looks herself in the mirror of an old wooden wardrobe and feels that she is pretty.
Not because she is vain.
Growing up, she never cared for her looks and had never looked herself in the mirror this way.
But now, she can’t help it. She is surprised by her own beauty.
She wants to go out on a date like other girls.
She is ready for it. Waiting. Hoping someone would ask her out.
Her innocence colors how she sees the dating world: strawberries and sunshine.
She expects the best.
She believes that life would perfect when the perfect person would come along, and it would happen on the first date.
She desires the boy to be smart, but it’s not a dealbreaker. She’s not picky.
She is unable to take the lead herself and ask a boy out. She is shy. Awkward.
So she is waiting for someone to come along.
A question for you: Is it good to have an innocent hope for the dating life?
